BizTalk Server 2016 CTP2 on Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 5
Last week I tried to install BizTalk Server 2016 CTP2 on a Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 5 system.
First I installed SQL Server 2016 (Developer Edition) without any problem. Then I tried to install BizTalk Server 2016 CTP2.
As you can see below. That didn't work.
The first step "Installing Microsoft SQL XML 4.0 with Service Pack 1" already failed.
A colleague of me (Steven Van Eycken) at Integration Team found what the problem was.
So what I needed to to was installing .NET Framework 2.0, which is not natively installed on Windows Server 2016. You can do that via the "Add Roles and Features" wizard
But then it starts. When you just click on the next buttons, it will not work.
What you need to do is to specify an alternate source path. You get a popup like in the screenshot below.
If you mounted the installation DVD (Windows Server 2016) just like me on a Hyper-V server just browse to the sources and then to the sxs folder (D:sources\sxs). Press OK and start the installation.
When this succeeds you can start again your BizTalk installation. This will work now perfectly. Then it's just configuring your BizTalk server like usual.
Happy BizTalking. :)
